Interdisciplinary Minor Processing Form
When a minor involves courses or departments in two or more schools or colleges, Provost approval is also required. This includes both minors co-sponsored by departments from different schools or colleges and minors that include within their lists of requirements courses offered by other schools or colleges.
This policy ensures that any academic departments from one school have the resources to accommodate a change in the number of students based on including one of its courses in the minor sponsored by another school. Provost approval is required to add or inactivate a minor of this nature, as well as to make changes to the minor if they involve courses offered by a school other than the school proposing the changes.
For example, if a department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences sponsors a minor that requires courses from a department in the School of Fine Arts, the Provost would need to approve any changes affecting courses in the School of Fine Arts. If the changes involve only courses from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, approval by that school is sufficient.
To add, inactivate, or change a minor meeting these conditions, submit relevant minutes to the Office of the Provost.
To learn the policies that have been involved in establishing Minors, please see both Minors at the University of Connecticut and Minors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
